My wife had her Cartier Trinity ring cut off in the ER due to an allergic reaction. Cartier refused to repair it as it is so complicated, then the 1st jeweler took almost 3 weeks to get me a quote. I broke the clasp of a very meaningful special bracelet, that looked (to me) impossible to fix. I went to Sash today and he fixed it in less than 5 minutes! Its a double chain and I couldnt remember how the clasp goes since theres also a ball to loosen/tighten the bracelet. He examined it and explained how it should look and how he will repair it. I was shocked that he said he would do it on the spot (seriously, less than 5 min). When I arrived, I was a bit all over the place and hot. He told me to relax, sit, take my time. Very nice man. He designs jewelry as well and showed me some of his pieces. I would go back to Sash in a second and highly recommend him!

I was anxious about getting my custom engagement ring resized, but Sash took one look at my ring and got started right away. He had to take it down a whole 3/4 of a size, but let me try it on at a half size smaller first to make sure he got the perfect fit.

He did everything while I waited and was lovely to talk to while he worked. The whole deal took maybe 15 minutes, he did a fantastic job, and he charged a very reasonable amount -with the option of paying on a card too!

It's easy to find, but make sure you go into the residential/business building on the left, not the mall. The desk person will tell you where to go when you check in, but hes on the MZ level (first stop on the elevator or stairs) and he's the very first office on the left.

I'll be going back to Sash for any jewelry repair I have in the future!

The designer who made my wedding band could not understand how it could be scratching me, but it felt like needles, even when I tried it on my other hand. I have stupidly sensitive skin and this diamond pav eternity-ish band (diamonds at five spots on the band only) was really setting me off. The maker did not really know how to fix it without melting it down, so I needed to look for a third party.

He not only immediately *believed* me that the ring was bothering me but actually showed me *why*: it had squared-off double prongs as well as decorative V shapes. You can watch him work, if you'd like, he is a great conversationalist, but if you're busy he is a trustworthy guy. And his prices beat pretty much everyone. I live in NJ but there is a reason I drop off things with him.
In the lions den that is NYC's diamond district, he is one of the few dudes who you can rely on to deliver. His shop is located within a multi floor corporate office complex. He does do work on Saturday, and i've stopped by to get some work done, although the building doorman is not available, so you have to give him a call an he can open the door. Give him a try, you won't regret it.

The locking device on my necklace broke several weeks ago. Every place I went to in my neighborhood wanted between $80-$125 to fix or replace the broken clasp. While at work in Midtown Manhattan, i googled jewelry repair shops near me and found Sash Jewelry Repair, although it was 15 blocks from my office, I made the trip. Thank god I decided to check this place out as I was in & out of there in about 15 minutes and with a $21 tab. This guy was extremely polite, fast at his work and obviously very reasonable rates. He choose the correct crown(head) for my diamond shape and reset it in my setting. Now my diamond is secure and looks beautiful. I was anxious about getting my custom engagement ring resized, but Sash took one look at my ring and got started right away. He had to take it down a whole 3/4 of a size, but let me try it on at a half size smaller first to make sure he got the perfect fit.

He did everything while I waited and was lovely to talk to while he worked. The whole deal took maybe 15 minutes, he did a fantastic job, and he charged a very reasonable amount -with the option of paying on a card too!

It's easy to find, but make sure you go into the residential/business building on the left, not the mall. The desk person will tell you where to go when you check in, but hes on the MZ level (first stop on the elevator or stairs) and he's the very first office on the left.

I've visited Sash about 4 times, leaving each visit with an exceptional repair or alteration. The owner is welcoming and receptive, especially when approached with clear/direct intent, and also comprehensive and efficient. I've had engraved initials filled, 2 broken chains (curb & ball) repaired, and a broken earring post reinforced with prices ranging from $5-30. On a good day the process is done in about 1-3 days, and on a great day its done within minutes. I like a patina on my jewelry, so if you don't want it nice and shiny upon return be sure to specify.

The gentleman in this shop was as accommodating as we could have possibly hoped for. Really helpful in replacing an amethyst stone and repairing a white gold ring I've had for years! I wear it a lot and the stone had chipped and a prong fell off. He was able to buy a new stone (the old one was beyond repair, as I thought might be the case) and complete the repair in a little under a week, and for a fraction of the price I had anticipated.

Worth noting that I got estimates from a few other jewelers with great yelp reviews in this building (just down the hall), and that one of the competitors was charging me more than double what Sash charged! Just a good reminder to shop around and get estimates before you commit to one jeweler, especially in this environment.

Sash is great! My white gold wedding band needed to be resized i.e. made larger. It had a design on it that we wanted to preserve, so cutting it and adding new gold to it was to be avoided, if possible. Well, Sash did it! He "stretched" it out and preserved it's appearance. It fit perfectly. He then cleaned and polished it, so it looked better than when I brought it in. The price was a very reasonable $50, and I was able to stay for the 30 minutes that it took to complete. I might also add that Sash is pleasant and friendly. The small shop is on the 2nd floor mezzanine and a little hidden. I highly recommend Sash for jewelry repairs.

This man is the real deal, and incredibly kind and accommodating to his clients. I have a super fine bracelet that holds a lot of sentimental value and he's fixed it every time I clumsily snap or break a link. I once took it to a nearby jewelry repair store and they quoted me FOUR times the price and a week turnover, when Sash does the job within the hour and a fraction of the price. So glad to have this man bookmarked for all my repair needs!

Sash is the best! I needed to get my engagement ring resized (from a size 5.25 to 4.25) and didn't want to leave it in an unfamiliar shop overnight. I gave him a call and he said he'd be able to fix my ring, same day. We chatted in his office while he resized my ring, and I was in and out in less than 25 minutes.

Sash is a very good jeweler with the right knowledge and expertise. He reset my diamond in my engagement ring after I had problems with the prongs from my original setting. He choose the correct crown(head) for my diamond shape and reset it in my setting. Now my diamond is secure and looks beautiful. He is always very accommodating with our requests and always provides great customer service when we work with him. He is also able to do custom work.

I just visited Sash after reading all the excellent Yelp reviews, and I was not disappointed. I was able to walk right in, and it only took about 20 minutes for Sash to re-size my emerald ring. I was able to wait right there and watch him work, which gave me peace of mind, but it was also fascinating! He was super friendly and chatted with me while he worked. I was sitting at my desk and noticed the center stone in my engagement ring was off. Working a block from the Diamond District I walked in a couple of stores and was quoted $75-$100 AND they asked me to leave my ring with them and come back for it the next day (yea right). I went back to work and happened upon Sash's Yelp page. I walked to his studio without calling, explained my situation and he fixed my ring right then and there, in about 10 mins time, for a fraction of what other places quoted me. Sash Jewelers has been the most effiecient and fairly priced repair service I have ever encountered since starting to wear designer and fine jewelry. I brought him my vintage Herms Chan D'Ancre braclet which needed to have a link taken out. He did it right before my very eyes in about 20 minutes. He even soldered the extra link together for me to wear on a chain or have turning into a fine sterling scarf ring. I had such an amazing experience with Sash! I went in to get my necklace chain repaired and am so happy with the result; my necklace looks good as new. He had three other customers to help before me and gave me the option to wait or to pick up later. I barely waited any time and he finished the repair itself quickly. I don't review very often but I really felt like sharing the wonderful experience I had with Sash today. I came in to get my engagement ring resized. Filled with trepidation as I had no idea how the whole process worked, and nervous after reading horror blog stories of other people's experiences, I had found this business through yelp, and with all the positive reviews decided to give it a shot.
Sash was super kind, patient, and friendly. He immediately gave me a quote, and made sure I was certain at what size I wanted my ring to be (wasn't a huge change: from 5.5 to 5.25). Afterwards, he allowed me to sit, wait, and watch while he did his work - halfway through he even allowed me to try on the ring to make sure it fit the way I wanted it to. After I gave him the okay, he finished off his work and returned to me a ring that looked as beautiful as the day I received it, but now with a much better fit!
The important thing I want to mention is that I initially had anxiety thinking I needed to be parted from my ring for hours or days. Sash got the job done same day within 15 mins (even with all the interruptions which mostly consisted of his repeat customers come to drop off other pieces of jewelry for him to work on - great multitasker!), and I don't know if he sensed my nervousness b/c I swear I must have been hawking over him, but he made conversation with me and remained professional and calm the entire time. As I sit here admiring his handiwork, I'm just so appreciative!

Sash is the best! My fiance got my engagement ring from Brilliant Earth and despite measuring my finger twice AND getting it resized, somehow they still messed up the fit. I ended up taking my ring to Sash- he determined the right size was more than a ENTIRE size down (going to a 3.75 from a 5), and resized it for me in literally ten minutes. He also polished it up so it looked even better than when we first got it. All this for $50, and I snuck in right before closing, but he still did an amazing job. I highly recommend him!

Can't recommend this place enough! Sash resized a bracelet and ring for me and I was very pleased with the results! As others have said, his ring resizings are flawless and you really can't see where the ring was soldered back together. Reasonable prices and Sash is super nice! A few weeks ago, one of the diamonds surrounding my antique emerald and diamond engagement ring fell out onto my lap, and I was very apprehensive about finding somewhere to replace it, since it's a very fragile older ring and is so incredibly special to me. The jeweler at Sash explained exactly how he'd do the repairs to protect the emerald, and he did an amazing job resetting the stone for a very fair price. He also polished the ring back to its original sparkle and it looks like a million bucks. I'd recommend this place very enthusiastically! I'll certainly be back if I need anything else fixed. I needed to get my watch repaired (the pin connecting the face and band broke). I stopped in here on my lunch break to get it repaired. I was ready to go in less than 10 minutes and it cost $10. Couldn't have asked for more--fast, inexpensive, and friendly guys!

The locking device on my necklace broke several weeks ago. Every place I went to in my neighborhood wanted between $80-$125 to fix or replace the broken clasp. While at work in Midtown Manhattan, i googled jewelry repair shops near me and found Sash Jewelry Repair, although it was 15 blocks from my office, I made the trip. Thank god I decided to check this place out as I was in & out of there in about 15 minutes and with a $21 tab. This guy was extremely polite, fast at his work and obviously very reasonable rates. My wife and I are planning to make a trip up to see this guy in there future as we have several items that need repairs.

Amazing - other jewellers had quoted me much more for replacing a stone because of the slightly tricky nature of the custom work (one even said he wasn't sure he could get the original stone out without cracking it), but Sash looked at it, said it would be no problem, and did it in 10 minutes right in front of me for $10. Numerous other people came and went while I was there, and they were all satisfied with their service. I also appreciate he doesn't think any job too silly or small; one of the women had had him do some work on costume jewelry. A bit hard to find -- it's not in the building with all of the booths but in the office building next door, one flight up.

Sash did a wonderful job on resizing my engagement ring using gold beads. Not only was he open on a Saturday when most of us need to run errands like this, but he did it in 20 mins while we watched the interesting process. Not having to leave your ring overnight is such a plus and it was only $30. Can't recommend his work enough.

Sash is amazing! After some issues with my engagement ring (not purchased here), I brought my ring here to see what my options for repair were. I ended up getting a new setting for my main stone, as well as both wedding bands. The prices and turn around time were both impressive. My fianc and I love our new rings! I came straight to Sash from the airport (my fianc proposed in Florida!) to get my brand new platinum diamond ring resized. It was a size 6.5 and it ended up needing to be a 4.25. Sash was amazing! He resized the ring in less than hour. He had me try it on multiple times to make sure it was perfect. No one would ever know it was originally 2 sizes too big!! It was fun to see him work in his little shop. And it was so sparkly after!

I went to have a simple silver chain shortened. It cost $5 and was done in under 3 minutes. He is also a very nice and pleasant guy.

Another nearby jeweler that I called quoted me $15 minimum. Luckily I had done my research and knew it shouldn't cost more than $10, so kept looking. I was expecting to be charged a slight premium since this is Manhattan, so I was pleasantly surprised.

Will definitely be back for any jewelry repair/alteration needs.

I had a couple pieces of delicate jewelry break and saw the good reviews for Sash so decided to stop in. He was able to fix both pieces while I waited for a very reasonable price. My only advice is to be aware you might have to call him to let you into the building (at least this was the case on a Saturday). I didn't have an appointment or anything, but he was very accommodating and came right down to let me in and help me out. Would definitely recommend!

I got my wedding ring sized down and I am very happy. Originally Kay Jewelers had told me that it couldn't be sized down as small as I need it because they were worried that diamonds could pop out. But Sash did it expertly down to size 2 3/4! My ring had been too big for the last five years and now it fits properly and is comfortable. He also removed these annoying balls that Kay had put in to supposedly make it fit. He was so nice and the price was low. Thanks!

He fixed a broken link on my treasured carnelian and gold bracelet, left to me by my mother, and also a connection on a very rare art deco enamel and brass necklace, also from my mother, which another jeweler had said was not repairable. It's inconvenient for me to go from far uptown where I live to 22 West 47th Street, but it's worth it to get help from this wonderful jeweler. He's the first I'd go to, if I were you. A Master Jeweler, All around nice guy. Sash has resized multiple rings, set a diamond and work was flawless. You can watch him work, if you'd like, he is a great conversationalist, but if you're busy he is a trustworthy guy. And his prices beat pretty much everyone. In the lions den that is NYC's diamond district, he is one of the few dudes who you can rely on to deliver. His shop is located within a multi floor corporate office complex. I did a random search and saw great reviews for Sash - so my hubby called him up to see if we could pop in and he told us to come whenever we are ready. We arrived about 20 mins after calling, the building was very easy to find in the overly crowded diamond district of NYC. Sash is located right off of the elevator in a tiny but fairly organized office. I have to say, I was really nervous about leaving my ring with ANYONE, I've heard horror stories about stones being swapped out or even worst lost! For some reason I felt totally comfortable leaving my ring with Sash as soon as I came in. He inspected my ring, (complimented my husband on his good taste) and talked us through what he needed to do. While it usually takes about 25-30 mins to fix, my prong was basically broken instead of bent and he needed to do a little more work. After chatting a little bit (and also finding out he was from Guyana, which made us feel even more comfortable since we are from Trinidad, our countries have a lot in common) we signed off on some receipts and left the ring to be worked on (No deposit was made at this time or anything). Sash called us about 4 hours later to come pick up the ring and of course I rushed over. When I say brand new! He re-set my stone, dipped and polished both my wedding band and engagement ring and the set looked bigger and even better than I remember. He did an excellent job and even gave me a discount Professional, Knowledgeable, and Trustworthy. I will definitely be using Sash going forward!

I concur with everything others have written! I took my diamond wedding ring there to have a tiny broken stone replaced, as that was what I was told at a jeweler in my city. He looked at it under his magnifying scope and said the stone was fine, it just had some caked-on dirt on it. He polished it, along with another diamond ring, an everyday diamond necklace and my everyday studs. Then he re-Rhodiumized all pieces for a very reasonable price. All done in about 15 minutes while I waited! From now on, I'll save repairs until my next trip to Manhattan!

This guys is an artist. My graduation ring was turning a little bit reddish gold and the took it back it's original brightness like if it was day 1. I highly recommend him.

This guy is the bomb. Came in on a Jewish holiday (the doors were locked and he had to come down to let me in) with some wedding bands that had a brushed hammered finish when we wanted a polished hammered finish.

He shined them up good in less than 10 minutes, juggled two other customers politely, and charged a totally reasonable fee (even took my credit card).

As the consistent 5 star reviews indicate, Sash's repair service is excellent. I popped in yesterday to get a bracelet fixed and picked it up today. He drilled a new hole and tightened up a loose fixture of the bracelet, and it's sturdy as ever. Price point is great and Sash is super friendly. Definitely get your repairs done here!

Just wanted to add another voice to the chorus of gushing reviews. After reading all the positive feedback here, I went to Sash today to have my platinum engagement ring resized. I had been putting it off for a while because I hated the idea of leaving it overnight or few a few days somewhere else. Sash resized the ring right there in front of me in about 20 minutes - and he also checked the prongs (it's a vintage ring so I wanted to make sure everything was secure) and gave it a thorough polishing. I left with a ring that feels and looks worlds better. Best of all, Sash is kind, welcoming, and made me feel comfortable. The price was very reasonable to boot. I took my engagement ring here to be resized (it was too big). Sash did a seamless and perfect job in about 25 minutes at a very reasonable price! He was also very friendly. I would definitely recommend - and come back for future repairs!

It's easy to find, but make sure you go into the residential/business building on the left, not the mall. The desk person will tell you where to go when you check in, but hes on the MZ level (first stop on the elevator or stairs) and he's the very first office on the left.

So I just resized my ring with Sash, and the entire process was done in about 30 minutes. Most impressive of all, you can watch the entire process and feel thoroughly comfortable with each step. My ring has a very high quality diamond and was set in platinum, but it was a 5.5 and barely fit my ring finger (difficult to wear during the summer). What I want is to have it size up to 6.5 so I can wear it on my middle finger. I was initially skeptical, but Sash was very patient and answered all my questions. He told me he would use welding laser to insert a piece of platinum to my ring, so this process would not overheat or damage the diamond. He also explained that this type of laser was different than that of a diamond cutting laser. After the piece was inserted, Sash then proceeded to polish the ring. At the end of the process, my ring looks almost BRAND NEW, and the fit is just PERFECT! I am so happy that I decided to have this ring resized; now I can wear it more comfortably and on the right finger. Sash is also very honest and fair with the pricing; he really wants to see every customer happy! I cannot say enough thanks!!! Sash is a perfectionist and will far exceed your expectations.

Sash is amazing! I came to him based on his other reviews and I am so glad I did. I had a diamonds by the yard necklace adjusted as it was too long for me. He reconstructed the necklace so it was proportionally smaller, meaning he cut the chain between each diamond. It was quite a bit of work for him but even so I brought it to him on a Thursday and he was able to have it done for me by Friday afternoon. When I originally took the necklace to the jeweler who made my engagement and wedding rings he quoted me an absurd price. After some research I found Sash who did the work for a great price! I can not recommend him enough!

Sash is the absolute best! I would recommend going to him for any and all repair needs. I was very hesitant to take my antique ring that needed lots of fixing to anyone because of how precious it was to me, but after reading reviews I visited him and decided he was the right person for the job. My fiance and I came to Sash in defeat after 2 jewelry stores told us they didn't feel comfortable resizing my beautiful vintage engagement ring. We were looking to go from a size 7 to a size 4 and were told it was too risky! We walked into Sash's little studio and he immediately eased our nerves with his soft and kind demeanor. He took one look at the ring and said "No problem!" We were shocked! He told us it would take 25 minutes to do while we sat and watched. This was surprising because the jewelry stores had predicted 2 weeks to do it!!! He charged us less than half of what the jewelry stores were predicting it would cost to resize it as well.

He did a fantastic job and even secured the diamond the next day when we realized it was a little loose - no charge!

Sash is one of the nicest people I have dealt with. My mom had her diamond appraised and she wanted it cleaned but the appraiser did not clean rings so he sent her to Sash. He polished it at no charge, so when I wanted an engagement ring I stop by to see what he offered. I showed him the ring I wanted from a picture on the internet, knowing how much they charged. He beat their price by over $100. He custom built the ring to my specifications and it came out beautiful. He was always welcoming and the prices were unbeatable, I spent 6 months searching for this ring, I know I got a good deal. Once the ring was finished he had it cleaned and polished and I did not get charged a dime extra. I even forgot that I did not have a box to propose, so I asked him where I could by one. He handed me one at no charge and told me it was a gift. Super nice and honest guy, he even offered to resize the ring at no cost! Wish more people offer this type of craftsmanship. He's been a custom jeweler for years and I would recommend him with any custom jewelry.

We had a great experience yesterday at Sash's place. He resized a wedding band to fit my husband's tiny fingers :) he did it on the spot (in about 20 minutes), and made the band look like new! We even got to keep part of the old band, which is nice for sentimental reasons (it belonged to husband's grandfather). Overall a great experience!

Yesterday the clasp on my lucky charm necklace broke after almost ten years and I was really upset. But not for long! Today I dropped by Sash's during lunch break and I was in n out within 15 mins, and for only $15! Sash actually found me an exact same replacement clasp, same style, same silver, same size! I came in today (2/23/17) to get my bands/ring resized because it was too tight after it was welded by another jeweler in Astoria. My ring went from a size 7 to a size 6 and so I came to Yelp to find recommendations on a jeweler who knew what he was doing and at a good price. Well, I found both! Sash was very polite, professional and quick. I waited about 30-35 minutes and my rings look amazing! I met some other jewelers who were there to get jewelry fixed as well. Walked in to get my fiance's ring resized here and he did it in on the spot in about 30 minutes for $50. Very pleased with the service, especially considering other places make you leave your ring there which I'd be a little uncomfortable with. Only caveat is it's slightly hard to find - just make sure you go the mezzanine floor and not the basement as the numbers repeat.

Sash was definitely fast! I hope his work wasn't done so quickly that I have to come back for a second repair. I could see where a piece of metal wasn't completely soldered together; just a tiny space appeared to be overlooked. I pointed this out to him and he said it was fine. We'll wait and see.

I didn't find him as inexpensive as expressed in other reviews, but he was definitely professional, friendly and fast. SUPER fast!

Sash was the best! It's always noteworthy when a business has a few dozen reviews and not a single one below 5 stars.

I brought my engagement ring into him to be resized and he got the job done in 20 minutes. I had called a few other top-rated places on yelp that were more popular and his quote was by far the most reasonable and his turnaround time the fastest.

Keep in mind that a few of the bigger shops actually outsource work to jewelers elsewhere, which means you won't get your ring back until the next day.

And for those who said his shop is hard to find - it wasn't too bad. It's on the mezzanine (2nd floor) of 20 W 47th, and his room is the first one once you get out of the elevators on the left.

Overall he was very honest, hardworking and tries to make all his customers happy. I'd definitely come back down the road if I needed anything else.

Charged me $5 to fix a broken necklace that Tiffany was going to charge me $55 to repair. Awesome service on the spot! Definitely recommend him!

Sash is a treasure of a craftsman. I appreciate the quick response to my email inquiry and the highly reasonable quote. I had over 10 pieces of vintage beaded jewelry to be repaired, restrung, cleaned, extended, and were just crying out for a bit of care. The pieces were restrung and, if pearls were missing, perfectly matched beads or pearls were added. Clasps were changed. Onyx beads were extended with faceted onyx and it was an almost perfect match, repairs are not detectable on my earrings or metals and the other pieces were given new life and look better than before.

It is important to note that every necklace was a double or triple strand piece and I was charged, on average $40 per piece. His competitors charge $50 per strand!

Sash's work is excellent and I highly recommend his shop. Take the elevator to the mezzanine and his shop is the first kiosk on the left.

Looked up Sash based on his reviews and I was not disappointed. Sash set a platinum Tacori Engagement Ring for me I bought off of a sample sale with an Ideal Cut Diamond. Absolutely flawless. His attention to detail is awesome. He took the time to align the table and display the diamond's "arrows" using magnification to ensure it was absolutely perfect to my OCD eyes.

I was busy so I didn't have time to watch him work so I left it there in his care. He is absolutely trustworthy. After I got the diamond appraised the appraiser noted that the inscription was in the perfect position, out in front of the diamond. Got my diamond back and it was just the same one I brought to him in the same condition.

I also had Sash resize a platinum wedding band I bought second hand, polished it up and made it looked brand new. I was relieved when I saw he had a Laser Machine as platinum can be a bit tricky to work with when you are dealing with inexperienced jewelers with sub par tools. But when you hire the best craftsman with the best tools you get the best results. No taking a torch to your jewels to risk burning them. No sizing seam or anything. Good as new.

So in short, I had a ring resized and a diamond set for the price most people would pay to have a diamond set. You cant beat his prices or his craftsmanship.

This is the first time I'm ever writing a Yelp review, but I feel like I had to let the world know about Sash. My engagement ring was a bit too big, so my fiance and I saw Sash on a super hot summer day to get it resized. We waited and watched while he worked and were out in about 10-15 minutes. He charged $50 and fixed a broken link in a necklace I also brought for free. A few months went by and my ring was still too big (my fingers were so swollen from the heat that day), so we went back to see Sash. Again, 10 minutes and my ring is another size smaller. He's such a nice man and did an amazing job on my grandmother's pearls. I went to Sash for a clasp for my grandmother's pearls (my something old) and he informed me that he had to restring the pearls. I thought it would be pricey but he only charged me $25 for everything and had it done by the day that I needed it which was a week later. They look amazing for 60+ year old pearls. Just remember to bring cash.

I walked in during my lunch hour to get my grandmother's ring reshaped. Since it's an irreplaceable piece that is very dear to me, I was hesitant to trust it to anyone, but I couldn't wear the ring as it was -- the band is a wrap design that isn't soldered shut, and I had caught it on something and pried it open to the point it was falling off my finger.

Sash took care of me right away -- hammered and shaped the ring back into a circle, had me try it on, and it fit perfectly. Took all of 2 minutes. When I asked what I owed him, he refused to let me pay. I cannot thank him enough, and I'll be back with any future repairs I may need.

This place is tough to find! I had to call the phone number and the man came downstairs to let me in what appears from the outside to be a residential/office building. Anyway I realized, I didn't have enough cash to cover everything so I had to rush over to the ATM. So much for watching my property like a hawk. :P Anyway, came back, stuff was still there, intact. Diamond was still there intact. Verified by an independent appraiser to be the same diamond, confirmed after getting the ring appraised. So Sash had been left with over $17k of my property, and didn't steal a darn thing. So much for that BS false review who Sash seemed concerned about when I talked to him BTW, because it was buy a business associate who had stolen his money it seems.

After the job had been completed the setting looked great! Hearts and Arrows perfectly symmetrical with the setting. A true professional job. But wait! I found a few tiny scratches both pieces due to test fitting the rings on a mandrel for size verification on my sizing job. After showing these to Sash he graciously buffed them to my OCD satisfaction, even though he had several jobs he needed to get done in the meantime.

So conclusions... Sash is a "true" master jeweler a price-point that can't be beat. He has quality tools like the Laser Welder. Great Tools, Great Jeweler, Great Results. But realize this caveat. The man works for damn cheap, if you want a "perfect" OCD job like I did, Ask him what his time would cost him, he is honest and will do all he can to accommodate you. (I witnessed him fix one earring of two for an older gentleman for free, only because they were wax filled gold.)

Also, please don't be a dumb ass if you get your diamonds set. GET INSURANCE! Jewelers Mutual is one of the few companies who will ensure loose diamonds against chipping or breaking during the setting process. Negligence is one thing, but some diamonds especially SI1s to I2s have inclusions that may compromise structural integrity! That is the nature of the beast. Some jeweler are under insured, $100-300 dollars a year or so dollars for piece of mind while you are getting your diamond set is a small price to pay. Don't be a statistic...Even a frugal dude like myself realizes that some headaches aren't worth dealing with. So whoever you go with at the end of the day, make sure you are prepped before going to set the diamond.

Anyway Sash is a great guy and a master of his trade, and I recommend him without reservation to anyone, big job or small.

UNBIASED REVIEW OF SASH JEWELRY REPAIR PART 1

Firstly, I have been a user of yelp for years, but I have been more of a lurker not really taking the time improve the yelp community. However, I have never been more compelled than I am now to write a review on any business, as I am Sash's Jewelry Repair.

Okay, where to start... I am from NJ and found Sash's Jewelry Repair after being told by Blue Nile that they couldn't resize a $1200 wedding ring I had purchased from them, since it was greater than a 1 size difference and it was out of manufacturer's allowable tolerances for resizing. BS, I thought, as I have read endless information on the web that usually a 2 sizes job is typical, especially with the relatively plain top mounted 9 diamond band wedding band that needed to go from 5.5 to 4. I went to 3 jewelry shops in my local area, all master jewelers in boutique high end shops in the central NJ, all with laserstar machines and the finest equipment. The quotes I had received were ridiculous to say the least. I was quoted anywhere from 100-200 dollars for a resize of a relatively simple band.

Since my GF works in the city, I decided figured I'd navigate the diamond district and try my luck there. I began my search, on Yelp's review of "The Best 10 Jewelry Repair in Midtown West, Manhattan, NY" of which Sash's shop was "# One" of the least expensive.

Naturally I read reviews and found a similar shop of a competitor in the same building, who had many more reviews, and some of them not very good, regarding botched resizing jobs, and chipped stones. So I thought, probability of success to my high standards, 90% Great Job, 10% Epic Fail probability? I had also seen pictures of jobs he had done from "satisfied customers" who didn't know any better showing uneven band thickness around the shank. Definitely not a professional repair of a Master Jeweler, unsatisfactory.

Then I read Sash's reviews, all of which are good, except a few that were ridiculous saying Sash was a drunkard and a thief. Anyway I thought, he can be a drunkard, but if hes batting 1.000 on workmanship, what the hell, why not give him a chance...I'll watch this guy like a hawk to make sure he doesn't try to pull con job....

Needless to say best decision I ever made... When I walked in the shop I noticed Sash's Laser Star Machine... So he wouldn't be doing this job the old fashioned way, with a torch that could possibly burn your diamonds. He immediately got to work, all the while people came dropping pieces off trying to get him to do more jobs. One of which was the building owner it appeared, with a very elaborate platinum micropave ring which had to be valued at least $10k appearing to be a custom, or designer piece, which he wanted resized 3 sizes down. This impressed me that the building owner would entrust him with a job of this magnitude there were other jewelers his building. Needless to say the ring was done in less than 30 minutes with a few zaps of his laser machine and a little buffing to the ring. No Seam! Even Shank!

After this job I was going to do two jobs in one trip to the city and head over to 5th Avenue to set a D VS2 Bryan Gavin Blue Signature Ideal Diamond I purchased for a Verragio Engagement Setting that I had purchased. Anyway the Retail Value of the diamond was just over $11k, and the Verragio setting was worth $5k, but I had bought it dirt cheap from Overstock.com thus Verragio would not provide warranty services or free setting/engraving on this band from all the retailers I had visited since the purchase did not have a warranty card that MSRP purchasers get. The high end 5th Avenue shop was charging me a $150 dollars to set this diamond.

After seeing Sash's work. I gotta admit, I was pretty impressed, and decided to ask him what he would charge. His reply? $20 dollars to set your diamond. What? $20 Dollars? Being the OCD guy that I am as a result of my time working in the Military, I wanted to ensure that a hearts and arrows diamond was set symmetrically and the table square and parallel to the band itself, and the AGS Inscription was easily visible for viewing. So I asked Sash what this "upgraded" attention would cost, realizing that Sash makes his money by fast, quality work, however keeps the volume up, allowing him to offer fair pricing to all. Eh, $40 dollars and I will give it a little extra TLC to ensure that the table is perfectly square and parallel to the band. Mind you not every job requires this level of precision because very few diamonds are H&A precision...$40 dollars I thought?...Hell yea!... I also thought to ask if he can do engraving, and he said he doesn't, but he had some colleagues at James Engraving on 37 47th Street (Two Quiet Korean Dudes, who specialize in professional engraving, who also did an excellent job I must admit, for a measly 5 dollars, so little, that I had to tip them a little bit more cause I felt so bad, it felt like theft...)

Fantastic work! Drop off 2 rings on Friday evening, it was ready on Monday morning. Repaired and cleaned for a great price. And Sash is a lovely gentlemen to deal with!

I came in to get a diamond replaced on my wedding band after one of the prongs had broken and the stone had fallen out. Sash offered me a very fair price (and about 60% cheaper than another estimate I received), and was able to get it fixed within one day. He even cleaned my engagement ring for free as an added bonus. Sash was great! I had taken my beaded necklace (bead's were on a gold plated tiny metal chain) to another place and they were unable to fix it. This is place is great for all your jewelry repair needs! I came in to get a diamond reset and it turned out beautifully! I also got my engagement ring and wedding band polished for an amazing price. They look better than new. I plan on getting other work done here because the prices are extremely reasonable and moreover, Sash explains everything in detail and offers sound counsel regarding the best way to tackle your repairs. He also directed me to a store where I could purchase stones for costume jewelry pieces that I love but haven't gotten around to fixing. I can't wait to see how they turn out! Went here to get those beads put into my wedding ring. It has a complex filigree and I've already gotten it resized once (elsewhere) so I didn't want to resize it again.

I expected this to be a 'pick it up in 3 days' kind of thing, but he rolled up a couple gold wires in front of me, put his blowtorch to it and molded them into balls and into my ring. Let me try it on with two beads, added a third when it was still a bit loose and it was all done in 10 minutes right in front of me. It's very comfortable, not bothersome like I expected these things to be.

Very friendly guy, quick as mentioned, $50. Make sure you go into the almost residential looking building, not the jewelry mini mall with the same number.

I have gone to Sash twice so far, and both experiences were wonderful. 1st time I went it was to fix the clasp on a bracelet. He fixed it within a couple minutes, and only charged a few dollars! Then went today to get a ring resized to be larger. He finished within 30 mins, and the ring looked like it wasn't even touched. He had to add more metal to enlarge the band, and you couldn't even tell! It was flawless and polished to a beautiful shine. Wow, what a quick, easy and pleasant experience I had today at Sash's Jewelry Repair. I came here based solely off Yelp reviews I read and I was not disappointed. All the great things I read were right on target. The easiest way to describe how to find the shop is to check in at the security desk, go up the stairs one level to the mezzanine floor, and go down the hallway. Sash will be on your left side. I came to Sash to get some links taken out of a costume jewelry necklace. He was able to help me right away and I was out of there in no more than ten minutes. He charged me $10 which was very fair as he ended up taking about 4 inches of links off my necklace. He fixed my necklace right in front of me, so I was able to see everything that was being done. We chatted the entire time he was working and he when he was done he had me try it on to make sure it fit okay. I would highly recommend Sash as he not only does good work for a fair price, but is a pleasant person as well.

Sash is THE MAN. One of the links broke on a silver necklace I bought (nothing fancy, just a costume piece). I brought it to Sash after work (I love that he's still open after 5!) and he fixed it immediately in front of me. He is so quick, efficient, honest and professional. Tip: He isn't located in a store front at street level. You have to go into the lobby of the building, show your id to security and go up one floor to the mezzanine level. He is located all the way down the hall on your right side. His office (#8) is clearly marked.

Just got my platinum engagement ring polished and cleaned here. Sash did a fantastic job!! Super nice guy and he works right in front of you, so you see everything. He was very attentive and you can tell he's very experienced. Very reasonable pricing as well! I would call ahead to let him know you are coming, the shop is a bit hard to find.

I had to get the bail soldered back on a pendant and searched on Yelp for places in the area. I was originally gonna go to AY Jewelry which had about 3 people ahead of me. The guy being helped was getting a custom piece, so he was there quite a while. I kept looking on Yelp and saw that Sash was in the same building just down the hall, so I went to check it out. The guy was hard at work at his machine, but addressed me immediately. I told him what I needed repaired and how much he charged. He quoted a great rate and got to work right away. It took less than 10 minutes, and he even steamed cleaned my tarnished pendant. When he was done, it looked brand new. Very pleased, and will definitely recommend for anyone in need of jewelry repair, polish, or even custom made. Super friendly and quick service.

Was planning on going to AY jewelry to polish an engagement ring, it was closed but I stumbled into Sash's store instead. I'm glad I did, he's an absolutely great guy to chat with, charged me a super cheap rate and did a great job. To give you an idea of how personable the guy is, there was another customer there who was hanging out and chatting with him for 3hrs as her jewelry got reoaired. Would go back in a heartbeat!

Rarely have I met a more patient person, more eager to make customer happy. He will gladly repeat the job until you are satisfied without charging you extra for it. He is a perfectionist who doesn't rush the work. Yesterday, I brought my future daughter-in-law to size her engagement ring (a family heirloom) and Sash spent a half an hour fussing over the ring (sizing, cleaning diamond and tightening setting), all for $20 only.
She was very happy and wants to recommend him to her girlfriends.
